Do you agree with encouraging middle school students to do volunteer work? Middle school students are widely acknowledged as the most occupied group during the academic duration. They are often busy with different subjects and standardized tests, lacking heavily of thesocial and cultural communication. Volunteer work for the middle school students, therefore, becomes necessary and important. The first benefit comes to expanded knowledge and broad horizon. Participating volunteer work actually allow middle school students to have a chance to contact with fresh and new things in the society. There are numerous cases where students really know which field they truly interested in through specific volunteer work and head at the direction of this field when grown up, which means volunteer work in adolescence may, to a great extent, serves as a lighthouse of teenagers’ life. Nowadays, frankly speaking, the well-known cramming learning cannot help students with the true comprehensive development. Students rely on linear thinking and learn by rote; but limited thinking confines their development. Voices of words like “ Unite theory with practice” are getting louder. Encouraging middle school students to do volunteer work motivates the theory about practice. Linking study with society and future work, students aren’t depressed with their monotonous study life. Last but not least, many famous universities emphasize the volunteer experiences of applying students, volunteer experience during middle school doing a favor. This requirementreflects the tendency of the statement that experience during life will determine the height and depth of thinking. The academic level is not the only decisive factor of achievement but also the experience, which makes the volunteer work become a competitive point in the personal profile. Admittedly, middle school study is intensive and students always have little spare time for extracurricula. School should balance the importance between in-class study and volunteer work to make students more competitive in the future and pursue the true aim of their own life.
