Being a good listener
Aims: 1.Enable the students to know and master the art of being a good listener 2.Develop the students’ability of reading comprehension and writing. Teaching aids: a multimedia computer Teaching procedure: Step 1 Greeting Step 2 Presentation and listening 1.Listen to a song /music and ask the students some questions or encourage them to put forward some questions. (1)What is the name of the song? (Take me to your heart) (2)Can you get the main idea of the song? (About love) 2.Talk about something on listening and ask the students to think of the Chinese character Ting . Then, let the students watch the video and ask: What can you find out in the character?

3.Now listen to a speech and learn the important phrases and sentences. Ask: What is the topic of the speech? (Being a good listener) Step 3 Reading Tell the students: Today we are going to learn about the art of being a good listener. So now read the reading passage in 8 minutes and answer these questions: (1) What is the reading passage about? (Mainly about listening to people) (2) Does the writer give advice or information? (Both) (Play a piece of MP3 while reading (within 8 minutes)) Step 4 Oral practice 1.Ask the students to give the answers to the above-mentioned questions. 2.List the advice that the writer gives.
