一. 【设计思想】 本课的中心是要教学生写一篇鼓励朋友的 e-mail,围绕这个话题设计了相关活动,旨 在培养学生迅速查找有用信息的能力;指导学生在听力或平时的课堂上快速记笔记的能 力;最后能将前两种能力以书面的形式呈现出来。一堂课的量可能太

多,可以将最后一部 分分指导后做家庭作业。 二. 【教学目标】 By the end of this class, the students will be able to 1. find information quickly in a long passage. 2. know how to take notes quickly while listening to the record of a topic. 3. exactly explain something to their friends by writing an e-mail. 三. 【教学重难点】 Enable the students to exactly explain something to their friends by writing an e-mail. 四. 【教学环节】 【课堂导入】 Discussion: How do you find information you need quickly when you are reading a long passage? 【预习检查】 选择适当的短语填空 in the long term, get into shape, concentrate on, as a matter of fact, what’s more, make the most of 1. Exercising, is useful to our health. 6. , I didn’t have anything. 【课堂教与学】 Skills building 1:finding information Step1 Introduction to the two skills of finding information. A: Read the questions carefully before beginning to read. B: Skim the passage, looking for main points and key words.

Step2 Practice--Recommending a gym to a friend. Part A: Read the advertisement on P52 and underline the main points and circle the key words. Part B: Use the information you have found to complete the note in part B on page 53. Part C: Listen to the tape to get more details to complete the rest pf the notes in Part B. Part D: Work in pairs and discuss why Wu Tong should join Better Body Gym according to the note in part B and the information about Wu Tong in part D. Write to explain why Wu Tong should join the gym. Present a sample writing for students’ reference. Skills building 2:note taking Step 3 Presentation If we need to write down information quickly, it’s important that we make notes as brief as possible. Read the following examples. First , we can use Abbreviations and contractions. e.g. For example=e.g. ss/stdnt—student 学生 Add.—address 地 址 SH1=Senior High1 Hs—high school 高中 grad—graduate 毕业 bus—business 商业 HE’S=He is /has pls—pl ease 请 etc. — and so on 等等 hosp—hospital 医院 gd—good 好 Tel.—telephone 电话 Hr — hour 小时 w/I—within w/o—without VIP—Very Important Person 要人,大人物 VOA-Voice of America 美国之音 ATM-Automated Teller Machine 自动取款机 Second, we can write only the key words of the sentences. Third, we can use symbols. Step 4 Practice --Interviewing classmates about exercise 1)Do Part A by listening to the speech about the facilities available in the gym and take notes while listening.Use abbreviations and contractions to write down the information quickly. 2)Work in pairs to go over Part B.talking about how to keep fit. Take notes while their partner is talking,using the skills they learned on page 54. 3)Tell us what exercise your partners do according to the notes you have made.(Part C on page55) 【课堂巩固】 Writing an e-mail encouraging a friend 1. Read the e-mail by Li Fan, Hu Bo’s friend, and learn how to encourage and advise a friend with a problem. Ask students to pay attention to punctuation marks.

2. Read the e-mail in Part A again and find the sentences that the writer uses to give advice and encouragement. 3. Discuss the following question: What is your advice on how to solve Hu Bo’s problem? 4. Write an e-mail encouraging your friend who has weight problems. 5. Students’ assessment of their classmates’ writings. The teacher chooses some students’ writings and presents them on the screen. Then ask the whole class to point out the mistakes in them and make them better. 6. Present the sample writing.
