More than half of rich Americans have not shown their full wealth to their children, a new survey showed last Tuesday. The survey, published by the Bank of America, studied the rich with $ 3 million or more in assets（资产）. It found that “surprisingly few of those surveyed have well-developed plans to preserve and pass on their assets to their children”. The majority of the 457 people surveyed are self-made, first-generation rich. Fifty-two percent of parents have chosen not to tell their children just how wealthy they are, and 15 percent have given away nothing about the family wealth. One in three parents said they had never thought to do it. They are worried that their children would become lazy, spend money freely, make bad decisions and even become a target for gold diggers. Only 34 percent strongly agreed that their children would be able to handle any inheritance(遗 产) they plan to leave them.
“There is an expectation about the wealthy parents that they have a responsibility to pass down their fortune to the next generation,” said Sallie Krawcheck , president of the Bank of America Global Wealth and Investment Management. “Our research, however, uncovered changing views of what one generation owes the next.” The trend is led by the world’s richest man Bill Gates, who promised in 2008 that he would leave his $58 billion fortune to the charity started by him and his wife, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation(基金会), and not to his children. “We want to give it back to society in the way that it will have the most positive impact,” he said. Of his plans for his children, Gates said: “I will give the kids some money but not a meaningful percentage… they will need to work but they will feel reasonably taken care of.” 61．We can learn from the passage that . The time of year a baby is born can shape what profession they will embark on(从事) in later life, a new study has suggested. Being born in a certain month appears to indicate the statistical likelihood of what job a person will end up with, the study by the Office for National Statistics found. Researchers have uncovered that the month in which babies are born could also affect everything from intelligence to length of life. A child born in December is more likely to become a dentist while someone whose birthday falls in January will tend to a debt collector, they found. A February birth appears to increase the chances of being an artist while March babies appear to go on to become pilots. Meanwhile, April and May are said to have a fairly even spread of professions, births in the summer months mean a much lower chance of becoming a high-earning football player, doctor or dentist. The study was got by researchers who analyzed the birth months of people in 19 separate occupations using information from the last survey, the Daily Mail reported. Although these trends may be difficult to explain, correlations between birth months and specific health problems have a scientific basis. Spring babies are at greater risk of illnesses including schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s disease, asthma and autism. They may also be less clever than classmates born in other parts of the year. 72．From the passage we can know if a baby is born on February 20, it will probably become a ________. A．footballer B．doctor C．pianist D．teacher 73．According to the passage, which of the following statements is true? A．Researchers can explain why babies will have different careers in the future B．Being born in different months has no influence on what a baby will do in the future
C．Being born in a certain month will certainly determine what a baby will do in the future D．Researchers make the conclusion just by analyzing the birth of people in 19 separate occupations 74．What does the underlined word “correlation” in Paragraph 5 mean? A．effective solution B．great influence C．close connection D．reasonable conclusion 75．What’s the purpose of this passage? A．To discuss a baby’s birth month B．To introduce a new discovery C．to explain babies’ some trends D．To describe different professions 第二节（共 5 小题：每小题 2 分，满分 10 分） 根据短文内容， 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项， 选项中有两项为多余选项。 Doctors say anger can be an extremely damaging emotion, unless you learn how to deal with it. They warn that anger can lead to heart disease, stomach problems, headaches, emotional problems and possibly cancer. 76 Some people express anger openly in a calm reasonable way. Others burst with anger, and scream and yell. But other people keep their anger inside. They can not or will not express it. This is called repressing anger. For years many doctors thought that repressing anger was more dangerous to a person’s health than expressing it. They said that when a person is angry, the brain releases the same hormones (荷 尔蒙). They speed the heart rate, raise blood pressure, or sugar into the blood, etc. 77 Some doctors say that both repressing and expressing anger can be dangerous. They believe that those who express anger violently may be more likely to develop heart disease, and they believe that those who keep anger inside may face a greater danger of high blood pressure. 78 They say the first step is to admit that you are angry and to recognize the real cause of the anger, then decide if the cause is serious enough to get angry . If it is, they say, “ 79 Wait until your anger has cooled down and you are able to express yourself calmly and reasonably.” Doctors say that a good way to deal with anger is to find humor in the situation that has made you angry. 80 . A．Anger is a normal emotion that we all feel from time to time. B．Doctors say the solution is learning how to deal with anger. C．Expressing anger violently is more harmful than repressing it. D．Anger may cause you a cancer. E．Do not express your anger while angry. F．In general the person feels excited and ready to act. G．They said that laughter is much healthier than anger.
