If you visit a museum, don’t take some photos inside the halls. You are not allowed. You will find NO PHOTOS signs in many museum. When you drive a car, don’t park in a street without a NO PARKING sign. Making sure you understood the signs and you won’t get into any trouble.

Dear teachers and schoolmates, It’s great honor for me to be here today and share my experience of learning English with you. I want to learn English well to take a better job, but I learn English in some difference ways. Zhang Xiaowen, who is sixteen, a middle school student in Northern China. She is one of the best student in her class and she was won an award for young scientists last year. When sitting in the classroom she looks just like all her classmates and after class her life is obvious different. She was born without the ability to use her legs and she has no feeling below the waist. She had to use a wheelchair to get around and it often takes her a little long to do everyday things, such as getting out of bed, getting dressing and going to the school. So far she has created many programs and one of which received an award at her province’s science fair.

Dear Editor, I'm writing to tell you about a food poisoning accident. Several days ago, my neighbor ate a bag of food buying from the market. After the meal, they had stomachaches and their faces turn pale. Fortunately, one of their friends found the accident and immediately called on an ambulance, which carried them quickly to a hospital. After several hours' treatment they finally escaped from death. As some illegal businessmen only interested in making profits to become rich quickly, we seldom care about the necessary safety measures. Nor do they care about which happens to consumers. They shall be charged with law. Meanwhile, I do hope whole society can realize the important of food safety and begin taking action together to make sure food is safe.

One cold evening during the holiday season, a little boy about six or seven was standing out in the front of a store window. The little child has no shoes and his clothes were just rags. A young woman passes by saw the little boy and could read the desire in his pale blue eyes. She took the child by the hand and led him into the store. There she bought her some new shoes and a complete suit of warmly clothing. They came back outside into the street, so the woman told the child to come home and have a happy holiday. The little boy looked her and asked how she was God. She smiled and replied that she was just one of his child.

When I was an elementary school student aging ten, I took part in a singing competition in our city. This was my first time to be in a singing competition. On the day of the competition, I was asked to enter into a studio room, which there was only one person and a piano. The man asked me to sing in front of the microphone, followed his piano playing. My mother was waiting for me outside the studio. I thought that I sang better at the time. So when I finished and walked out the studio, my mother asked, “What happened to your voices? Why couldn’t we hear you?” Then, I realized that I forget to switch on the microphone.

Passage 10
Last weekend my sister went to the supermarket to buy some groceries. Three hours ago, with full bags of goods in both hands, she headed for nearby bus stop, tired and hungry. She was waiting for the bus while it began to rain. After what seemed ages, came a bus, crowded of passengers. When it was her turn to getting on the bus, someone said, “ Sorry, no more rooms.” Quite disappointed, my sister had to take a taxi. Half way home, however, the taxi broke out. Hardly had he got out of the taxi when a bus passed by. It was empty, but she had been missed it! What an unluckily day!

Passage 11
After school, I was about to enter my apartment building when I saw a little dirty dog lie beside the dustbin. He looked extreme weak. Immediately the homeless dog filled me of sympathy, so I decided to take him home. I gave to him some food and a bath. After the bath he looked energetic and refreshed. What a lovely dog! When my parents got home, I asked that I could keep the dog. To my surprises and happiness, they agreed. Up to now, he has become member of our family. Everyone had enjoyed his company. Looking at the cute, happy dog today, I realize that I did the right thing. I just offered him a shelter and he has brought ourselves great happiness and laughter.

Passage 12
Of all my teachers, Mr. Smith is the one who impresses me most. Because he is 54, he looks very young at his age. And he’s one of the most popular teachers in our school. Compared with other teacher, Mr. Smith pays more attention to his way of teaching. He tries various ways to make his class lively and interestingly. In his opinion, we would not only know “what”, but also understand “why”. So, instead of giving us answers immediately, he encourages us to think by themselves whenever he puts forward questions. With his help, we learned how to analyze and settle down problems. What a wonderful world of “what” he leads us to ! He is such a learning person that we all admire him very much.

Dear Angela, I am so happy to learn you are coming to study in our school and stay at my home. My home is at No.58, Mingzu Street. A five-minutes walk from my home along Mingzu Street will lead you to a crossroads, when Mingzu Street meets Baohu Road. On the corner of the crossroads lie a shopping mall, where you can get everything you needed. Walking for about 300 meter along Baohu Road, you’ll see our school on right. There we will spend most of the daytime. In the end of Mingzu Street stands the new railway station, and that it’s easy for you to reach. Passage 14
The news which the English Entrance Examination will be reformed has caused a big “earthquake” in our country. Many people, included students, are for it. But there are also some people are against it. Then, is it better to do so or not? Personally, I think the reform has between advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, it can reduce students’ learn burden and enable English to return back to its true function. On the other hand, it will cause students to spend less time on studying English and to attached less importance to English. If so, students will not have a good knowledge of English. What’s more, if students don’t have so a good ability, they will not be able to broaden our horizon and meet the future challenges.

Passage 15
More and more foreigners like to come to China. Last Friday the foreign teacher was invited to our school give a lecture to the students of Senior Grade Two. We found his lecture lively and interestingly. I learned a lot of from him. The teacher talked to us freely with easy English. He spoke so slowly that we understand him very well. Sometimes he repeated that we didn't understand. My classmates were all active in the class. To my joys, I understood everything the teacher said. And I was able to ask question in English . I was deeply encouraged. I think if we practise like this, to learn spoken English well will be easily for us.

Last Sunday, I went sightseeing with my friends in the Fairy Lake Park. The park was full of freshness and beautiful of spring, with the sun shining and birds sing. When I was enjoying the fantastic scenery around, something unpleasant caught their eyes. A young couple in a boat was eating, talking and laughing loudly as if they were the only people in the world. Which is worse, they spat and even threw rubbish into the lake, total ignoring the noticeable sign “No Littering” nearby. What shame! Such behavior leaves me deep in thought. If all visitors to the Fairy Lake Park do as the couple did so, the lake will be severely polluted or soon turned into a huge dustbin.

Passage 18
The annual English Festival, which was lasted one week, has just ended. There were all kinds of colorful activities, included an English speech competition. Last Friday, we had an honor of inviting Professor Smith to deliver a lecture on English cultural background information, such as English idiom. He was very learned and humorous that he began his lecture with an amusing story to attract the attention of the audience and all of us was deeply impressed with his wisdom. We admired him and took notes carefully, for he made himself understood with speaking slowly and clearly enough for us to follow her. He gave us some practically ways to develop the sense of language and encouraged us to keep speaking English as much possible in our daily life.

Passage 19
Dear Diary, Today I teamed up with a couple from my hotel and hired car. We spent all day driving around the city. There’s a great drive marking out for tourists. It has blue and white signs with seagulls on it to show the way to go. The drive turned out to be a very much pleasant trip and we stopped many times to take photograph. In the evening, we went to Chinatown where some Chinese people settled in during the 1850s. There is a museum contain documents and objects about history of Chinese immigration, so unluckily it was closed. We decide to go back during the day. We had a taste meal and then drove back. Passage 20
Nowadays, with the living standard rises, a large amount waste can be found in our school. For example, some students tended to leave the lights on during the day and water run after washing. They also throw away the food what they don’t like. So it is high time we dealt with these problems. We should do the followed things. First of all, we should turn off the lights and the tap before we use them. Secondly, we’d better eat up what we buy in the school cafeteria. More important, we should form the habit of saving natural resources however we do. Personally, it is everybody’s duty to stop wasting. If we don’t take action now, and the limited resources on the earth will run out soon.

Passage 22
Last weekend our school hold a sports meeting. Realizing it was our last school sports meeting, we decided to make it unforgettable experience. We first attended the opening ceremony, for whom our class had made a lot of preparations. Much for our excitement, our performance was a success. My classmates took part in various event such as running, high jump and long jump. Due to the hard training the athletes have done before, their performance was very impressively. My classmates applauded and cheered for the athletes, some raising their cameras to capture the excited moments. The result was announced. Our class won the second place and our efforts were paid off! Cup in hand, we took a picture together proudly. This sports meeting will be a precious memory for all of them as time goes by.

Passage 23
The person who has taught me most about the life is my grandmother. She was more than just a grandmother to me. When she died a few years before, I felt I lost a really good friend. She always looked very nice on her age. She did everything she could make me feel at home. She was imaginative and would spend hours telling me stories she has made up. I am sure it was because of her which I became a story writer. Apart from kept a young boy entertained, she taught me a large number of important thing on how to behave. I was rather impatient when I was a child and she taught me that good things happened if I could wait for it. She was a positive person but she also taught me how to look for the good in everything.

Time flies! This is a third year that I have been in this school. In the past two and a half years, our school had

organized many activities. What impressed me best was an activity called “Learning to Farm”. In an autumn afternoon, we were sent to a farm which we learned to plant potatoes. Having been in the city for so a long time, we were so happy to go to the countryside. After divided into three groups, we started to work. Some students cut potatoes into pieces; some dug holes, and the others put the pieces of potatoes into the hole, put the earth back and pushed them down hard. We continued doing that until all the work was done. Although we were exhausted, but we felt fulfilled on our way back home.

Passage 26
Yesterday, I saw old man fall down when I was hurrying to school. I was about to help him up while suddenly a passer - by stopped me, saying that I might be accused in knocking him down. Heard his words, I began to hesitate and slow down my steps. At the same time, another student happened to see everything and go up to help. The old man said nothing but lots of thank to the good boy. I felt ashaming. It is known to all, helping others is forever a good virtue. Even though some old people are becoming immoral, and we can’t let it disappear. I have made my mind that I will reach out my hand without hesitation next time.

Passage 27
In the past, I always think my little brother was very unpleasant, because he used to ask me some questions every time he did his homeworks. I felt as if I had been the smartest person in the world every time he accepted my explanations. Answered one of his questions, I often liked to say that he was too stupidly to solve such simple questions. Last week both us received our report cards from our school. Unexpectedly, I got C’s, when he got straight A’s. To make things bad, all the day my brother screamed what foolish it was of me not to ask questions! I just sighed and had to admit that she was right. I have never made a fun of him since then.

Echo, my favourite teacher, is a pretty and slim lady. When she talks to us, she always has a smile on his face. I think Echo is gifted teacher because she has a lot of good teach methods. Her classes are so full of funs that you will never feel bored. To improve our grades, she usually gave us some advice about how to learn English well. What’s more, she spends much her time helping her students instead of staying with her family. Sometimes, she

hardly has any time to have the lunch. Whenever I ask her questions, she will spare no effort to make me understood, with patience or care. I have never seen so a good teacher as her before.

Dear Sir/Madam, I’m glad to hear that you will organize an adventure trip. I’m interested on adventure and extreme sports so much. When travelling, we will enjoy ourselves and learn everything from the exploration, which attract me very much. But I wonder that if the trip will be exciting and relaxing. Personally, I think it’s important that there will an experienced guide in the group, whom will be helpful to us. Beside, how can you make extreme sports like bungee jumping easy accepted and even more attractive? I hope that all the adventure would be interesting, fascinating but meaningful. Passage 30
Patience is of great importance in our daily life. Once I waited a bus to come at a stop. 30 minutes past, but no bus came. Both upset and annoyed, I decided to walk on feet. But no sooner had I left when the bus arrived. I thought if I had waited for one more minute, I would have caught it. If I chose to take a next bus, I would have to wait for other 30 minutes. Only then do I realize my problem. Being impatient will possible waste all the effort that we have put it in. Now whenever I am close to lose my patience, I’ll think of this experience.
