Step1 Presentation 1. Show some pictures and present some new words and expressions such as: a mixed school, baseball, French, foreign language discuss, buddy club, offer, win, a reading week 2. Ask Ss to read the new words together. 3. Ask Ss to finish Part B1. Step 2 Pre-reading 1. Play the tape for Ss to listen and find out the main ideas of the two passages. No.1: Life in a British School No:2: Life in an American School Listen to the tape and find out the main ideas of the two passages. Help Ss to get the main ideas of th e tw o by listening tape. Develop listening to the Ss’ Read together. Fi nish Part B1. Look at the pictures and learn some new words expressions and By showing some pictures, some Ss learn
new words an d expressions more directly actively. and
2. Ask Ss to read quickly and find out the answers to the questions: Who wrote the first / second article? What activity does the first / second school have? Step 3 While reading 1. A sk Ss to read the passages carefully and finish the ‘T’ or ’F’ questions of B3. 2. Ask Ss to read the passages again and answer more questions: Why does Nancy like French best? What can they do during the Reading Week? Who is J ohn’s buddy? And what do they usually do at the Buddy Club? How often does John play baseball? 3. Ask Ss to repeat the tape and read together. Step 4 Post reading 1. Ask Ss to fill in the blanks with the suitable words according to the text. 2. Ask Ss to translate some phrases into English. Step 5 Homework 1. Read the two passages fluently. Fill in the blanks with the words. Find out the phrases in the passages. Read and repeat. Read again finish Part B3. Read more ca refully and answer the questions. and Read and answer the questions.
