T: Dear boys and girls, summer vacation is over. Welcome back to school. I?m sure all of you had a wonderful summer vacation. I had a happy vacation, too. Where did I go on vacation? What did I do on vacation ? Can you guess ?(Show some pictures of the teacher on the screen and let students guess )

T: Well, just now everyone shared my wonderful and relaxing vacation. Next please talk about your vacation with your partners. And ask and answer questions about summer vacation in pairs like this: A: How was your summer vacation? B: It was great. A: Where did you go on vacation? B: I went to Hainan. A: What did you do? B: I went to the beach. Step 2 Presentation Present the studying aims on the blackboard or on the screen. Let the students know what they will learn in this lesson. Step 3 Self-study(Ⅰ) Look at the picture on Page 1 and read the phrases in 1a aloud individually and then match the activities with pictures correctly and then check the answers in groups. Step 4 Listening 1.Listen to the tape in 1b carefully and finish the task in 1b. 2.Listen again and let the students repeat after the tape and check the answers by themselves. Step 5 Groupwork

Make conversations about the people in the picture and practice them in groups. For example: A: Where did Tina go on vacation? B: She went to the mountains. A: Where did Xiang Hua go? B: She went to New York City. …… Step 6 Listening 1.Look through the tasks in 2a and 2b carefully before listening. 2.Play the tape the first time, let the students only listen. 3.Play the tape the second time and let the students finish the tasks in 2a and 2b. 4.Listen to the tape once more and ask the students to repeat after the tape and check the answers by themselves. 5.Let the students look at the tapescripts in 2a and 2b and correct the answers by themselves. Step 7 Groupwork Role-play conversations between Grace, Kevin and Julie in 2c. A: Grace, where did you go on vacation? B: I went to New York City. A: Oh, really? Did you go with anyone? B: Yes, I went with my mother. Step 8 Self-study(Ⅱ) Ask the students to learn 2d by themselves and finish the tasks of self-study. Task 1: Read the following new words and phrase in 2d aloud by yourselves: anyone, anywhere, wonderful, few, most, quite a few and then memorize them by heart. Task 2: Read the conversation in 2d aloud and then understand its Chinese meaning and find out the importances and difficulties by yourselves. Try translating the sentences: Long time no see. 知识小贴士: ⑴some 和 any 既可修饰可数名词复数,也可修饰不可数名词。some 多用于肯定句,any 则 多用于否定句、 疑问句和条件从句。 但是, 在 Would you like some tea?这类问句中则用 some, 而不用 any,这是因为希望得到对方肯定的答复。 ⑵many, much, a lot of, lots of 均表示“很多” 。但 many 只修饰可数名词复数,much 只修饰 不可数名词,而 a lot of 和 lots of 既可接可数名词复数,又可与不可数名词连用。 ⑶few 与 a few 是一对反义词,修饰可数名词复数;little 与 a little 也是一对反义词,修饰不 可数名词。few 和 little 的意思是“很少;几乎没有” ,侧重“否定”的含义;a few 和 a little 的意思是“有一些” ,侧重“肯定”的含义。 ⑷由 some,any,no,every 构成的复合不定代词作主语时, 都作单数看待, 其谓语动词用第三人 称单数形式。 ⑸除 no one 以外,其他复合不定代词都写成一个词。 ⑹不定代词若有定语修饰,该定语要置于其后。 e.g.something important; anything interesting; somewhere beautiful 3.taste 意为“尝起来” ,是系动词,后跟形容词作表语,此类系动词还有:smell(闻起来), sound(听起来), feel(感觉), look(看起来)等。 Step 5 Groupwork Read 3a and fill in the blanks with the words in the box. How did you like…?/How do you like…?是口语中一个常用句型, 用来询问对方的观点、 看法或判断, 意为“你觉得……怎么样?” ,相当于“What do you think of…?” 2. Why didn?t you buy anything for yourself?为什么没给自己买东西呢? “Why don?t you+动词原形?”用来提出自己的建议或征求对方的意见, 意思是“为什么 不……呢?” ,相当于“Why not+动词原形?” 3.The only problem was that there was nothing much to do in the evening but read. 唯一的问题就是在晚上除了阅读就没有什么事可做了。 ⑴本句中 that 引导的是表语从句,作动词 was 的表语,that 在从句中不作任何成分,只起到 连接的作用。 ⑵此句中的 but 是介词,意思是“除…之外” 。其用法如下: ①but 前的谓语动词是 do,后接省略 to 的不定式作宾语: What else can you do but take back what you said? ②后可接带 to 的不定式作宾语:She had no choice but to wait. ③but 前的非谓语动词是 to do 或 doing 时,but 后的不定式 to 可以省略,也可以不省: I had nothing to do but (to) watch TV. 4.Still no one seemed to be bored.仍然没有人觉得无聊。 seem 好像、似乎、看来, seem 的常用句型: 主语+seem+(to be)+表语 seem It seems/seemed+that 从句 主语+seem(seems/seemed)+动词不定式 Tom seems( to be) a very clever boy. It seems that he is very happy today. He seems to be very happy today.

辨析:bored/boring bored 的是指人感到无聊、无趣、枯燥,是指使人感到厌烦的,主语是人;boring 是指事物 让人感到无聊、无趣、枯燥,指事物本身无趣的,主语是物,作表语或定语。此类词还有: interested/interesting, excited/exciting, relaxed/relaxing, surprised/surprising 等。 Step 8 Groupwork Ask your group questions about their last vacation.
